Alexandros Baltzis

Alexandros Baltzis graduated in 1987 from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (Bulgaria) and in 1992 he received his Ph.D. from the same University. Since 1997 he developed research and teaching collaboration with the Department of Primary Education, the Department of Economics and the Department of Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 2001 he has been teaching on contract at the Department of Languages, Literature and Culture of the Black Sea Countries (Demokritos University of Thrace). In June 2003 he was elected as lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He has published several articles in the fields of the sociology of culture and the arts, the sociology of music and the sociology of education. He has presented papers at international and local conferences. He is a member of the Advisory and of the Editorial Boards of Musicology Review of Theory and Praxis of Music and webmaster of the journal (webmaster@musicology.gr). He is a member of the International Musicological Society, the Hellenic Sociological Association and the Greek Association for Clinical Social Research (related to Research Committee 46 of the International Sociological Association).
