Markos F. Dragoumis

Born in 1934. He studied piano, music theory and Byzantine music with M. Pallantios, G. A. Papaioannou, S. Karas e.a. Postgraduate studies in musicology at the University of Oxford (scholarship of the British Council) with Egon Wellesz. He has taught music at the Athenian College (1964-1988) and history of music at the Conservatory of Athens (1970-). He is at present director of the Musical Folklore Archives of the Center of Asia Minor Studies, where he has been working for over 35 years. He has published a great number of books and articles, as well as CDs of ethnological interest. He has participated in international musicological congresses. Member of the International Musicological Society. The Athens Academy awarded him with a prize in 1991 for his overall contribution. Dragoumis is a member of the Advisory Board of Musicology.
