Konstantinos D. Kakavelakis
He
studied piano, music theory, Byzantine music, and composition at the Hellenic
Conservatory of Athens, under the supervision of Yannis A. Papaioannou and Ida
Rosenkranz-Margariti. He continued his studies in composition, musical
electronic applications, and historical musicology at the Conservatory of
Cologne and the University of Bonn. He completed his studies in the field of
composition at the Robert Schumann Music Academy in Düsseldorf.
He has a Ph.D. on György
Ligeti’s
music from the University of Hamburg (supervisor: Constantin Floros), which
was published in 2000 (Peter Lang Editions). Several of his compositions have
been performed in Greece and abroad. He taught in the Music Departments of the
Ionian University (2002-2003) and the University of Athens (2003-2005). He is
President of the Greek Mozart Society
and a member
of the
Advisory
Board
of Musicologia.
