Theodoros Kitsos

He read music at the Department of Music of the Ionian University, studying at the same time the guitar with P. Ioannou and C. Grigoreas. Thereafter he moved to England in order to specialize on the early music performance, studying historical plucked instruments (lute, theorbo, baroque guitar) with E. Kenny. With a scholarship by Michelis Foundation, he did his Masters at the University of York. He continued his studies with scholarships by the Onassis Foundation and the University of York, and in 2005 he received his PhD.

He presents lectures frequently and his papers have been published in the journals The Lute, Musicology, Moussikos Loghos and Annals for Aesthetics, as well as in various books. He has taken part in recordings and concerts in Greece, U.K., Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Romania, Belgium, Austria, Croatia, Holland and Bulgaria with various ensembles (Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, Latinitas nostra, Armonia Atenea, Réjouissance, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Athens National Orchestra, Ex silentio et al.) and soloists such as Romina Basso, James Bowman, Max Emanuel Cencic, Robin Blaze, Vivica Genaux and Fabio Biondi.

He is a lecturer at the Music Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
