Julia Lazaridou-Elmaloglou
She was born in Athens, Greece. She studied piano at the “Orfion” Conservatory in Athens (Piano Diploma,
Excellent Unanimously, First Prize, Golden Medal, 1992). She continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London
(L.R.A.M. 1996, Bachelor of Music 1997). With a
scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation she continued postgraduate studies at the Music Department of City University in London
(Master of Arts 1998). She
completed her studies with a Ph.D. in Historical Musicology (2004) awarded by the University of Athens. Among her research interests are the music of Greek composers and
the music of the Romantic period. She has performed extensively as a soloist in Greece, Cyprus, Great Britain and Italy. She has been a collaborator of the Greek Music
Library “Lilian Voudouri”, where she worked at the registration, classification and reproduction in microfilm of the music archive of Mikis Theodorakis. She has
compiled the catalogue of Romanos Editions
(The Complete Works of Mikis Theodorakis). Her articles about the Greek composers Petros Petridis and Emilios Riadis have been
published in the German dictionary Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart. She is a professor of Piano at the Athens Northern Suburbs Conservatory and the I. M. Panagiotopoulos School.
