Evangelia Mantzourani
She
was
born in Patras. She studied music, specialising in piano and music theory, at
the Hellenic Conservatoire and the Macedonian Conservatoire. She also studied
musicology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. With a scholarship
from the Academy of Athens she pursued postgraduate music studies at the
University of London, which resulted in a M.Mus.
in Music Theory and Analysis from Goldsmiths College and a Ph.D. from King’s
College. A scholarship from the Michelis Foundation supported a second M.Mus.
in Historical Musicology, awarded with distinction by Goldsmiths College. She
is Senior Lecturer in Music at Canterbury Christ Church University College,
where she teaches analysis and musicology, and also Associate Lecturer at the
Open University. She has presented numerous papers at international
conferences and has published various articles in academic journals. Her
forthcoming book on Skalkottas’
music will be published by Ashgate Publishing.
