George P. Ploumbides

He has studied Music Theory (diploma in Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue) at the Hellenic Odeon of Athens with Ioannis Spyropoulos, as well as Musicology and Music Theory at the State Conservatory “Tchaikovsky” of Moscow. He is teaching Music Theory at several conservatories in Athens, and he is actually elaborating his thesis for a Ph.D., the topic of which is related to the Greek music of the 20th century. He has translated in Greek the following books, of musical and theoretical content: Fugue, by Praut; Manual of Harmony, by Dubovsky, Evseev, Sposobin and Sokolov; Manual of Polyphony, by Grigorev and Muller; The Study of the Canon, by Taneev; The Principles of Orchestration, by Rimsky-Korsakov. He is actually working on the edition of the following books in the Greek language: The Forms and Genres of Music (encyclopedic and historical dictionary); Harmony, by Holopov (regarding the harmony of the 20th century); The Musical Form as Procedure, by Assafev; The Principles of Linear Polyphony, by the Swiss musicologist Kurt.
