Anna-Maria Rentzeperi-Tsonou
She was born in
Thessaloniki. She studied at the Department of Chemistry (B.Sc., 1987) of the
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and then at its Department of Musical
Studies (B.A. with honours, 1993). With an Erasmus Scholarship she studied at
the Musicology Department of Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich
(1991-1992). She is Doctor of Historical Musicology (Ph.D., 2002) at the
Department of Musical Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Concurrently with the above she studied at the State Conservatory of
Thessaloniki: harmony (Harmony degree, 1989) and classical singing (Diploma
summa cum Laude, 1991). She participated in various singing seminars. She gave
performances several times as a soloist and as a conductor of children’s
choirs and made recordings for the Greek Radio and Television. She has shown
ample educational and musicological activity. Her research interests include
National Schools of Music, Modern Greek music, vocal music and others. She has
published several studies in musicological journals and proceedings of
conferences. She also wrote musicological analyses for the concert programs of
the Organization of the Megaron of Music (Concert Hall) in Thessaloniki. Today
she is assistant professor at the Department of Musical Science and Art of the
Macedonia University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a founding member of the
Hellenic Union for Musical Education (E.E.M.E.) and the Hellenic Musicological
Society.
