He is a linguist. He
has completed two Master degrees (MA & MRes) in Linguistics – of which
the latter focused on Phonology – at the University of Essex under the
supervision of Dr Wyn Johnson. Currently he is doing his third year of PhD
studies in Linguistics at University College London, under the supervision of
Prof. Andrew Nevins. The main focus of his studies is Phonology and his thesis
topic is the syllable structure of Modern Standard Greek and its contrast with
other Modern Greek varieties. Other areas of interest include language
typology, Greek dialectology, as well as endangered languages and linguistic
varieties preservation. He is an active participant in the efforts of
preserving and promoting the whistled language of Antia in Greece, both as a
researcher and as one of the organisers of the Whistled Language Meetings.
