Iakovos Steinhauer

Born in 1973. Studies of Music Sciences and Art History at the J. W. Goethe-University in Frankfurt/Main. Master of Arts 1999. From 2000 to 2003 scholarship of the interdisciplinary post graduate programme (University of Frankfurt) “Experience of Time and Aesthetical Perception”. 2005 PhD at the J. W. Goethe-University, title of the thesis: Musical Space und Compositional Object in the Music of Edgard Varèse, published in 2008 (Frankfurter Beiträge zur Musikwissenschaft, vol. 34, Hans Schneider Verlag). 2006 beginning of a postdoctoral qualification on “The Aesthetics of Film Music”, since 2007 scholarship of the Fazit-Stiftung. Assistant Professor at the J. W. Goethe-University (2010). Interdisciplinary main points of research in the areas of 20th century music, music aesthetics and film music. Lectures at the University in Athens and in Frankfurt/Main, and publications on music theory, aesthetics, film music, antic reception in the 20th century music, relationships between music and visual arts. Stage music compositions at the National Theatres in Wiesbaden and Mannheim.
