Tsakalidis
Born in Thessaloniki, he received his violin diploma from
the Synchrono Conservatory of Thessaloniki (class of S. Gargalas) and he
graduated from the Folkwang Hochschule für
Musik in Essen, Germany (class of Prof. Nana Jaschwili).
In 2012 he earned his PhD in the Department of Music Art and Science at the
University of Macedonia under the guidance of Prof. Dimitris Chandrakis. Among
his tutors are several renowned teachers and performers, such as T.
Apostolidis, G. Demertzis, Ch. Polyzoides, M. Minchev, Nana Jaschwili, Almita and Roland Vamos, Zakhar Bron and D. Polyzoides. He has participated in various orchestral ensembles in concert, both in
Greece and abroad, and has recorded orchestral and solo literature. He
regularly performs in solo recitals and chamber music concerts, covering an
extensive musical repertoire with emphasis on contemporary music. Since 2002 he has been a member of the City of
Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra. He focuses on contemporary music, aspiring to
establish a connection between the public and the composer. He has extensive
experience in violin teaching, having taught at music schools and municipal
conservatories. Since 2008 he has been teaching violin at the Department of
Music Art and Science of the University of Macedonia.
