Theodor W. Adorno

Concerning Missa Solemnis. An Alienated Fundamental Work

Translation in Greek: Oly Psychopedis-Frangou
Despite the poetical style, clarity of the views and concepts is characteristic for this essay. It represents a kind of analysis rare in the literature about music and in the history of aesthetic production, as it is based upon a simultaneous elaboration of historical-philosophical, sociological and aesthetic-technical approaches. This essay demonstrates Adornos direct involvement in composing and musical praxis. Even if one cannot regard this essay as brilliant as the work it treats, it approaches – in any case – the matter itself with a most sensitive intuition. This essay is published for the first time in Greek by Musicology.
