Robert SchumannMusical Rules for the House and the Life
Translation in Greek: Oly Psychopedis-FrangouMusicology offers to Greek readers, as a small dedication to those who love music, Musical Rules for the House and the Life by Schumann. The style of this text may look somehow outdated and the requirements raised by a genius of the western civilization from the past century may sound mistimed. Yet, behind the romantic ideology about the unity between morality, art and life one can see the truth of the endless creative activity. All musicians during their studies and artistic development confront this hardly romantic, yet very practical, need for this activity. Although the very concept of
“genius” sounds somehow mistimed, reproducing such works revives its reality, even as a recollection.
