This brief essay is, in fact, the official speech given by Constantin Floros during his award as
an honorary Doctor from the Music Department of the University of Athens. Constantin Floros’ lecture refers to the character of historical sciences that has man at its center, to problems of criticism to the more contemporary tendencies of formalism and structuralism, to the concept of musica humana and to the psychological, social and educational aspects of music.
