Musical Acts in Constantinople during the 18th and Early 19th Century, as described by European Travellers of that Time

Regarding the Greek traditional music, the fact that there are not any music scripts constitutes the main problem of the historiographer. There are no main sources, with very few exceptions, on the music life in Constantinople during the 18th and the early 19th century. Therefore, somebody has to look for information on the music life during that period in the reports by European travellers of that time.
The authors of that time and the information they provide on the music life in Constantinople are presented in this article. The depiction of the multi-ethnical music culture in Constantinople and its historical development is attempted through the interpretation of the information provided of the authors of that time.
