Frederick Delius Interpreted by Beecham, Barbirolli and Collins

The historical early recordings, made by Sir Thomas Beecham with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sir John Barbirolli with the Hallé Orchestra, are set off by later interpretations given by Anthony Collins with the London Symphony Orchestra, Sir Henry Wood, Max von Schillings, Dr. Hans Haym and Constant Lambert, among others. The relative merits of some performances are singled out, while some minor failings are also noted.
