Exploring the New Modes of Musical Creation through Interactive Music Systems

This article presents the boundaries between music technology and contemporary music creation through the use of interactive music systems. The first paragraph describes the evolution of the electroacoustic music into live electronics and, finally, to the interactive music systems as a necessity to redefine the human presence in an electronic music performance. Secondly, it investigates and presents the interactivity in music, the factors which contribute to an interactive music concert and their consequences in the designing of the new instruments. The last paragraph exposes the new modes of music performance through interactive music systems (interactive dance, multimedia), the marriage between instrumental and electronic sound, composition and improvisation through the interactive music systems, and, finally, highly appraises the role of this new mode of performance in the contemporary musical scene.
