The Musicological Studies in France

Having quoted the analytical curriculum of the Department of Musicology in the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) and of its first circle (DEUG) in particular, in this paper we will try to show that the musicological studies in France are based on obtaining: (a) an efficient musical grounding, which is important for the future musicological research; (b) a general education, both theoretical and practical, through the corresponding disciplines (history of art, philosophy, sociology, acoustics, etc.); and (c) specific methodological tools for the approach of the above mentioned subjects.
