Ethnomusicological – Historical approaches of Greek traditional music

Main purpose of this article is the exploration of the Greek traditional music historical development under a – musicological – compound methodological approach, dictated by the compound status of Greek musical culture, which in various stations of its history combines written with oral characteristics. The mean of tradition as for the written documents and the oral character of Greek music, its accentual system and its correlations with the respectively systems of Greek Antiquity of the Mediaeval and the musical traditions of Mediterranean, the sources and the historical evidences of the folkloric music idioms refinement in the past as well as the comparison of their interpretation with the corresponding musical action of present, constitute the main thematic of this study.
