Commercialisation and Music Aesthetics; the Question of the Frankfurt School of Criticism

In the 20th century the Frankfurt School of Criticism has standardised the issues concerning methods of a historical-philosophical and sociological direction of research in the field of society and Aesthetics in today’s world. Having used absolute criteria in an attempt to judge both society and art, it orientated itself towards a social theory and configuration of concepts, in which the aesthetic truth does not separate itself from its sociological dimension. An endeavour at locating the aesthetic-sociological concepts is here attempted, and query is raised concerning a possible reconstruction with regard to the theory of Th. W. Adorno, who is the representative par excellence of the Aesthetics of Music as social theory in the 20th century.
