Christoph Stroux

He was born in Munich. He studied musicology at the Humboldt University of Berlin (diploma in 1954) and at the University of Freiburg (Ph.D. in 1967). His dissertation is entitled Die Musica Poetica des Magisters Heinrich Faber (1548).
From 1954 to 1967 he was member of the staff preparing Riemann’s Lexicon 12th edition (in 3 volumes: 1959-1967). From 1961 to 1970 he was assistant (and, since 1964, a lecturer) at the Music Department of the Freiburg University. Then, he taught as a senior lecturer at the Music Departments of Port Elizabeth University (1970-1979) and the University of South Africa, in Pretoria (1980-1991).
In 1992 he settled in Athens, where he is (since 1994) head of the Music Library “Lilian Voudouri”. Christoph Stroux is a member of the Advisory Board of Musicology (Musicología).
