Anastasios Hapsulas

He has a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology – Systematic Musicology, Georg-August University of Göttingen (Germany). He studied Musicology and Philosophy at the corresponding Departments of the same University. His Ph.D. thesis, Information on the Traditional Greek Music-Life in Travellers Chronicles of the 18th and the 19th Century, has been published by Edition Re (Orbis Musicarum) in 1997. His work was partly sponsored by the Onassis Foundation. Parts of this work have been presented in international conferences. He received a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation and carried out a post-doctoral research, titled Music Transcriptions of Melodies from Xeropotamos of Drama, which was published in June 2003 by the editors Papagrigoriou-Nakas. Since 2000 he teaches at the Division of Theater-Cinema Studies and Musicology of the Department of Philology in the University of Crete (in Rethymno), where he was elected as lecturer (of the History of Greek and European Music) in 2001. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Musicology.
