Ph.D. in Musicology (Athens University, Music Department), M.A. in Music Theory (Washington University of St. Louis, Music Department). He also studied architecture and music theory in Athens and taught music theory and analysis at the “Hellenic Conservatory” for more than 10 years (1986-1998). Now, as a lecturer at the Music Department of the University of Athens, he teaches the courses of Tonal Harmony, Modal Counterpoint, and Hermeneutics, as well as seminars on analysis of tonal music. He also teaches formal analysis at the conservatory “Musical Horizons”. His interests and research include work on Schenkerian theory and methodology as well as the implementation of semiotic, phenomenological, and, mainly, narrative models in music analysis. He is a member of the Advisory and the Editorial Board of Musicologia.
